Two unrelated projects in Denmark and Germany do their share in cultivating understanding for lgbt matters and countering discrimination. LGBT Denmark by publishing The Little Green Book on LGBT and AVANTI by releasing penalty cards for homophobic and sexist behaviour.

The Little Green Book on LGBT

Søren Laursen and LGBT Denmark have published the charming and educational Little Green Book on LGBT.

In very few words and many well chosen illustrations this booklet explains such potentially confusing questions as why we live in a cis-hetero-normative world and what that even means.

This booklet certainly seems fit to be used as illustrating material when trying to get people to grasp the basics of gender theory, or when explaining that there's a difference between sexuality and sexual orientation.

It's written in a clear and easy to understand style throughout and succeeds in trimming down complex matters to the one sentence at their heart.

The Little Green Book on LGBT is available for download in English and Danish here at LGBT Denmark.

Penalty Cards against sexism and homophobia

AVANTI - Projekt undogmatische Linke (project undogmatic left) have reissued their red card against sexism and added a pink card against homophobia.

Pointing out to people that they've just been homophobic or sexist really isn't easy and fun. That's why it's rather challenging to always be a model feminist/lesBian and stand up for our ideals. Penalty cards for homophobic and sexist behaviour to the rescue!

Every time you encounter sexism or homophobia you can now "dismiss" the offender like a ref dismissing a player (I suggest carrying a whistle on your person at all times for that very purpose). There are common sexist/homophobic insults listed on the back of the cards. You just need to mark them as applicable and present the culprit with the penalty card to show them what they did wrong.

Why you deserve this:
  • stupid jokes / remarks
  • repeating clichés
  • gay as a derogatory word
  • hushing things up
  • staring
  • exclusion
  • you think everyone is hetero
  • being stupid parents
Why you deserve this:
  • whistling / cat-calling
  • jokes / remarks
  • lewdness
  • stupid come-on
  • harassment
  • staring
  • sexist advert

You can download and/or order the cards along with the folder Courage gegen Sexismus (courage against sexism) at AVANTI's webpage here.
